Women desiring to learn more about the Oblate Sisters may request
a brochure and/or a vocation video. |
If
you have reviewed our brochures, our vocation video and shared your
comments and questions with our vocation director, and thus feel an
attraction to learn even more about a life dedicated to Christ and
the Church through prayer, community and ministry in cooperation with
and for priests, then consider spending at least five to seven days
with us. We invite you to be our guest in order to observe and experience
religious life with the Oblates.
AND
THEN...?
After having briefly visited with us, you are encouraged to continue
discerning God's will. If at any time during your discernment journey,
you feel that God might be calling you to the Oblate Sisters, we encourage
you to arrange to spend a period of "pre-candidacy" or an
extended visit with us. Most places of employment will grant a special
leave to their employees. Usually this immediate discernment period
extends anywhere from six to twelve weeks. During this time the woman
lives in community, participates in an initial formation program,
prepares an autobiography and participates in some community ministry.
I'VE DECIDED... NOW WHAT?
Towards the end of one's immediate discernment visit, the woman and
the formation director discuss where God might be leading her. If
both parties feel that God has called the "pre-candidate"
to a vowed life of consecration, then the woman returns home to make
plans for entrance as a candidate.
